Many people think of Bison when they recall the "Old West." Bison were plentiful at the time the US was settled. But very soon after, they were almost hunted to extinction! They are a true "comeback" story in American history. Their size is deceptive. They are the largest land mammal living in North America, but have capabilities and skills that would seem unheard of for an animal their size. When you see a snowplow would you think of a Bison? Watching a swim meet does a Bison come to mind? Take a walk with Bison to learn more about this burly beast and what makes them so special!
